Electronic Safes

Electronic Safes provide electronically controlled storage for valuables, documents and personal items. Selection should consider usable internal dimensions and capacity as well as outer size, locking system, PIN management, battery/emergency access and the ability to anchor the safe to a wall or floor.

Use this technical safe-selection guide to compare digital safes by usable capacity, locking method, PIN management, emergency access, anchoring and internal layout.

External Size and Usable Internal Capacity

Outer dimensions determine placement, while internal dimensions determine what can actually be stored. Door and locking mechanisms can reduce usable internal space, so do not choose by outside size alone.

Digital PIN Management

PIN length, user/master-code structure and lockout behaviour after invalid attempts vary by model. Use non-obvious codes and keep administrator credentials controlled.

Battery and Emergency Opening

Check battery type, low-power warnings and backup methods such as a mechanical emergency key or external power. Do not store the emergency key inside the safe.

Wall or Floor Anchoring

Anchoring can make small and medium safes more difficult to remove. Match fixing holes and anchors to the structural wall or floor and follow the installation instructions.

Shelves and Interior Layout

Adjustable or removable shelves can support different item sizes. Plan the interior around documents, electronics, jewellery or other intended contents.

Fire Resistance Is a Separate Feature

An electronic keypad does not automatically make a safe fire resistant. If fire protection is required, verify the relevant certification and tested rating separately.
