Electromagnetic Locks And Hardware

Electromagnetic Locks And Hardware use electrically generated magnetic holding force to secure a controlled door. Selection should consider door type, required holding force, mounting brackets, power supply, behaviour during power loss and integration with the access-control system.

Use this technical selection guide to compare electromagnetic locks and supporting hardware by holding force, door type, mounting arrangement, power requirements and access-control integration.

Selecting Holding Force

Holding force varies by product series. Consider door size, traffic level and security requirements, then match them to the manufacturer's specified holding force and installation arrangement.

Door Type and Mounting Brackets

Timber, metal, glass and other door/frame geometries may require dedicated Z, L, U or model-specific brackets. The magnet body and armature plate should align fully when the door is closed.

Power Supply

Check operating voltage and current requirements for the selected model. The power supply should be sized for the lock and any connected readers, controllers or auxiliary devices.

Behaviour During Power Loss

Because electromagnetic locks depend on electrical power, door behaviour during an outage is an important project consideration. Emergency egress, fire-safety requirements and building use should inform backup-power and release design.

Exit Buttons and Access Control

Exit buttons, card readers, keypads and central access controllers can provide release signals. See Access Control Units and Equipment for the control layer.

Glass Door Applications

Glass doors can require dedicated holding or clamping accessories. Confirm glass thickness, fixed-panel/door-leaf arrangement and the fitting geometry using technical drawings.

Prices vary by holding force, body dimensions, brackets, power supply, exit buttons and access-control scope. Compare complete system requirements rather than the magnet body alone.
