Tie-Rod Shaft
Tie-Rod shaft is a main connection component used to tie opposing formwork faces together in wall, column and beam formwork systems. It helps limit opening and deformation of the formwork under fresh-concrete pressure.
Tie-Rod Shaft Sizes and Grades
Tie-Rod shafts are available in SD37 and SD52 grades and in lengths of 50, 100, 120, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500 and 600 cm. The standard Tie-Rod size is stated as Ø15/17.
SD37 and SD52 Tie-Rod Selection
For applications with concrete thickness of 30 cm or more, the SD52 option is preferred. Tie-Rod grade and connection arrangement should be evaluated together with the formwork design and project requirements before use.
How Is a Tie-Rod Shaft Used?
After the formwork and walers are prepared, Tie-Rod tubes or cones are positioned through opposing holes. The Tie-Rod shaft is passed through these components, and a Tie-Rod plate and nut are fitted to both ends and tightened. In applications using a Tie-Rod tube or cone, the shaft can be removed after the concrete has set.
