Water Based Silicone Primer

Water based silicone primer is an acrylic-emulsion-based, high-absorption primer for use beneath water-based interior and exterior wall coatings.

Applications

Suitable for porous, highly absorbent surfaces such as concrete, plaster, gypsum, gypsum board and putty, as well as old painted surfaces.

Features

• Special silicone penetrates the substrate and reduces surface water absorption.
• Reduced absorbency helps lower top-coat material consumption.
• Helps bind dusty surface areas and improves adhesion of the top coat.

• Reference conditions: 23 °C and 50% RH
• Structure: Acrylic based
• Thinner: Water
• Application temperature: +5 °C / +35 °C
• Drying for top-coat application: 12 hours
• Consumption: approx. 160 g/m² in one coat depending on surface roughness and absorbency
• Application tools: Brush, roller
• Thinning: Maximum 10% clean water

Application Notes

• Remove dust, dirt, oil and old swollen paint layers; the surface should be dry, sound and clean.
• Wait at least 28 days before application on new mineral surfaces.
• Old synthetic-based surfaces should be sanded and sanding dust removed.
• Apply the top coat at least 6 hours after primer application.
• During application and for the following 24 hours, ambient and surface temperature should be at least +5 °C and the surface should not receive precipitation.
• Do not apply in very hot weather, direct sun, strong wind, fog, high relative humidity or expected precipitation.
• Moisten extremely hot surfaces before application.
• Do not use on horizontal surfaces exposed to rain.

Storage and Packaging

• Store unopened between 5-35 °C.
• Packaging: 20 kg plastic bucket
