Why Does a Concrete Vibrator Stop Vibrating? Common Faults

If a concrete vibrator motor runs but the poker head does not vibrate, the problem is often somewhere in the mechanical drive path between the motor, coupling, flexible shaft and vibrator head.

Common causes

Typical causes include a worn or disconnected flexible shaft, a damaged coupling, a crushed hose or a worn vibrator-head mechanism. Intermittent vibration and unusual mechanical noise also require inspection.

When to stop using the machine

Stop operation if vibration disappears, the hose is visibly damaged, the head overheats or abnormal metallic noise develops. Continuing to run a faulty unit can increase damage.

Repair and model selection

Inspect the complete drive system rather than replacing only the outer hose. Correct vibrator size and proper hose handling also help reduce unnecessary mechanical stress.
