Ground Hydraulics and Apparatus

Ground Hydraulics and Apparatus covers floor-spring closers and associated fittings used to control the movement of glass and other compatible doors. Door weight and width, glass thickness, pivot geometry, hold-open behaviour and closing adjustments should be considered as one system.

Use this technical floor-spring and fittings selection guide to compare solutions by door weight, width, pivot geometry, hold-open function and installation requirements.

Door Weight and Width

The floor spring must be selected within the supported door-leaf weight and width limits. Larger glass leaves change the loads on the system, so glass thickness alone should not determine the closer.

Hold-Open and Non-Hold-Open Operation

Some floor springs can hold the door at a defined open angle, while other applications require automatic closing. On fire or escape doors, confirm that the chosen function is compatible with the complete door-system requirements.

Closing Speed and Adjustment

Closing speed and final closing behaviour can be adjustable depending on the model. Adjust only within the manufacturer's documented limits and avoid over-opening adjustment valves.

Lower/Upper Pivot Compatibility

A floor spring works with lower fittings, upper pivots or hinges and glass connectors. These components must share the same axis and suit the same door geometry.

Glass Thickness and Machining

Upper and lower glass fittings may require specific glass thicknesses and machining dimensions. Confirm the technical drawings before the glass is manufactured.

Floor Preparation and Installation

The floor box requires suitable depth and a controlled finished level. Consider moisture exposure, floor finish thickness and final alignment before installation.
